Inspired by this news story about Tommy Sheridan this week, our podcast hosts debate the specific factors influencing decisions about employing individuals with criminal convictions in sensitive professional roles.
They discuss potential risks, public trust, and safeguarding concerns, highlight the importance of rehabilitation, and explore how a balanced approach can be achieved, ensuring both protection of vulnerable individuals and fairness in employment opportunities.
Join the conversation every Friday morning.

Hello Vince & Cara - that was a great podcast, l enjoyed it even more when you mentioned my review of the show, felt really personal so thanks for that. Was just a coincidence that this topic was one close to my heart, being from Glasgow where Tommy Sheridan is also from & where the issues arose. The one comment l would highlight from you & Cara was around the situation ‘if’ parents of young people find out Tommy Sheridan that was their child’s social worker after his intervention, l can almost guarantee you both that there is not one person in Glasgow who does not know Tommy Sheridan - he was actively involved on local politics & became famous (infamous!) through his behaviour & latterly his court case. - if he was anyone’s allocated social worker in Glasgow they would know who he was. Anyway, l enjoyed the podcast, glad you did not attempt the Scottish accent! Also apologies for calling Cara Tilly, yes l am listening to the past podcasts in between the new ones & mentioned Tilly rather than Cara Keep up the good work xx
